Disremembrance

stop_time_iii_by_vimark

The clock marks time

tick

tick

tick

it’s been long enough now

that I almost can’t recall

why I fell in love with you in the first place

Maybe it was your stellar acting skills

A regular Shakespeare of the long distance relationship

prancing on the stage

waiting for my applause from the front row

and you, merely

throwing me crumbs, always giving me excuses

of why you couldn’t give me actual time

More of the

tick

tick

tick

I chastise myself for holding on too long

ignoring what was staring me in the face

anxiety mounting

tearing at my fresh skin, newly healed

Your claws digging deeper

into the fresh carrion which was my

already abused heart

the wounds you left more devastating

because they were poisoned with the lie of love

Speech Impediments

This time last year, I loved you, and thought there was still a small chance you loved me.

Now I wonder if you ever loved me, or if it was just easy to type because the words in print, held no weight.

It always seemed when we talked that you would have trouble forming the words in your mouth, and I don’t remember you ever saying it first, but only in response to my telling you.

I’m not sure what hurt worse:  knowing you didn’t love me anymore, or the realization that you may have never loved me.

Requiem for a Rainy Day

rain

The rain cascades down the window

flooding me with want

of you

of a quilt

of the feeling of safety and peace so easily found in the crook of your arm

distance

and the shortest distance

between our two points

is my mind

you meet me there

with open arms and a smile

so real at times

I feel your lips brushing my cheek

or feel your hand in mine

or hear your heart beating as I curl against you and lay my head on your chest

Migration of The Heart

geese

I hear them before I see them

A-hink-a-honk-a-hink-a-honk

I run outside and tilt my head back

searching the sky for them

I see their familiar V shape formation

I know where they are going

they are flying to you

I am instantly jealous

I want to be flying to you too

I want to bring you spring on my wings

My warm breath upon your face

My smile like sunshine to your eyes

so bright it makes you cup your hand over your brow to cut the glare
