Do The Lessons Outnumber the Goodbyes?
How many goodbyes must there be?
Love always walking away from me
Leaving me standing
Alone
Broken
My heart shattered
Yearning for a man to speak kindnesses
Not lies
How many lessons must there be?
This was this week’s submission over at WordCloud Wednesdays. I was unable to come up with anything for the last couple of weeks, but this one seemed to flow easily. I guess you just never know when it’s going to come, or how. A couple of days ago, it felt like drudgery to write, but my bad poetry has seem to come easy the last couple of days.
You sum it up perfectly, this journey we are on…
It’s not a mistake if there’s a lesson in it, right? 😉
Yeah. Right. Why, then, do so many people pass through life happily, or at least they say that they do. You know the ones, those that marry their High School Sweetheart and live happily ever after? Or is that a myth, too?
I am still trying to figure out the answer to that question. Many times in my life I have felt as though I am not meant to live an easy life, though I think there are some people who are.
Bad poetry? I think not. I like the way this poem has an open ended question. As though, its not just contemplative but it is waiting for an answer from us too.
It’s an answer I am constantly asking myself. I think there has to be a lesson in everything, otherwise what good is it?
You’re so talented and we’re excited to have you a part of wePoets! We’d be happy to showcase your work too should you want to share. 🙂
Thank you!! I have submitted a poem.
You’re welcome and that’s awesome!
Sad but an anthem for many.
I don’t think anyone’s life is ever easy. Some people just fake it better than others. Good work on this one.
I think there are people who go through life with a lot less turmoil than others.
You are probably right there.
Goodbye is a very powerful word. It is the end and also a beginning. Have you heard Madonna’s song the power of goodbye? Her best songs are her less popular ones… And they are usually about… Goodbye.
Thanks for another great post! As per usual!
Agreed. . . the end, is also a beginning! Sometimes hard to see it that way, but it is so true. I guess I just long too much for that beginning where there is no goodbye, until death do us part. What a silly romantic notion huh? Thanks BTP!!
Not silly at all! That is the only thing that makes goodbye bearable.
